...whoops...

I haven't updated since last week.  Whoopsies.  I'll give you a quick update:

I finished working at the old job on Wednesday.  It was hard to leave, but definitely a good thing to get out of there.  Christmas eve was spent helping boyfriend take care of the deer he and a friend got the night before.  Never thought I'd be doing THAT on christmas eve.  I got a good anatomy lesson.  We had a quiet Christmas at home, both bro's were home of course and boyfriend came over in the middle of the day to hang out.  Aunt & Uncle and fam came over for dessert.  Always a good time when everyone can get together.  Saturday & Sunday were spent hanging out with boyfriend's mom, my best friend, and the boys(not all at the same time).  Sidenote - Boyfriend and boyfriend's mom were way too good for me for Christmas(my fam was great too, but that's to be expected).  Boyfriend and I had decided not to exchange gifts.  He didn't keep his promise and got me a diamond necklace and a gift certificate to my favorite salon for a mani/pedi.  His mom got me a Vera Bradley purse, mittens, coffee mug, and bracelet.  They spoiled me that's for sure.

That brings us to today.  I started the new job, working at a company that registers dog & dog breeds and hosts most of the dog events held across the country.  I won't say the company name, but you can probably guess :)  I'm working in their publications department, creating ad and page layouts for their 3 national magazines.  Anyways, it's always interesting to start at a new place.  This office is bigger than most of the places I've worked(when I say bigger, I mean about 50 employees).  The most overwhelming thing can be just getting used to the office dynamics and getting to know everyone.  First days suck too...do I take my lunch or go buy?  Where do I go when I first get there?  Where's the bathroom?!  I survived though.  Everyone in my department is nice and very welcoming.  It was a good first day!

...procrastinate much?...

I have yet to start my Christmas shopping.  I guuuuueeeess I'll start today after work.  Should be interesting.  The boss called and said it's really busy out there.  Of course, he was right around the area I will be heading.  Blah.  Not fun.

On a positive note, cali bro is already in town and chicago bro arrived earlier today.  It's chicago bro's birthday.  We're grilling a turkey for the big event.  And when I say "we," I actually mean chicago bro is doing all the work.  On his own birthday.  What is it with men wanting to do the work on their birthdays?  Don't they know that birthdays = 1 free day of everyone else catering to them?  Maybe I'm just a brat?  Dunno.  Anyways, we'll be eating grilled turkey and birthday cake.  Yummo!!  I think the mom and I are finishing our baking too.  We baked all day yesterday...did 2 batches of dog treats, saltine toffee(best thing in the world if you've never had it..i'll post the recipe later..it's SUPER easy), russian tea cakes, and we made the dough for sugar cookies.  Guess I will not be dieting this holiday season.  At least we just have a week of eating left!!

Time to brave the shoppers....

...little man...

Here's my little man.  Boyfriend's dog had a litter of puppies and after spending so much time with them, I couldn't resist.  We had given all of them away through facebook and craigslist and he was the last one left.  We thought we'd still give him away but after spending Thanksgiving with my family, we all decided that he was meant to be.  After going through 100's of names, we decided on Scout.  I mostly call him Bubba or Boo Boo though.  Guess I should start using his real name so he gets used to it.

He looks so innocent in the picture, but looks can be decieving.  He's such a little rascal(yes, rascal was a name option) and loves all of his toys, along with the many dog ears and legs that share this house...3 to be exact.

But, how can you be mad at that little face??  He decided this morning that he didn't want to chew on just one toy, so he proudly pranced in with the whole toy basket.  I'm waiting for the day he chews a pair of shoes...the Coach shoes I own?  He's dragged them out several times.  Hopefully, I'll remember to put them away...

...you know you live in Michigan when...

You know you live in Michigan when..

1. I saw a kid on the side of the road driving a "go-cart" on my way to work. At 8:45 in the morning. In 35 degree weather. And I mean, this sucker was homemade. He was probably 3 inches off of the ground on tires that looked like they were from a toy car. Weird thing is, there weren't any houses anywhere around the area..just fields. Where did he come from??

and

2. When figuring out friday night plans with boyfriend, he says 'let's go over to j's for drinks and deer.' Huh? Drinks and deer? His best friend has one hanging in his garage and apparently we're hanging out with it tonight. Great.

..i have to do what?...

Yesterday was boyfriend's birthday. I took the day off to spend the day with him. It was interesting to say the least. I usually like to do fun things on my birthday, you know..lounge around in my pj's, do some shopping, go out to eat. For some reason, boyfriend thought it would be a good idea to do physical labor on his birthday. And his helper? Me. I was beginning to wonder why I took the day off when he told me what he wanted to do...

He heats his house with a wood stove(totally country hillbilly, I know). Well, heating your house with a wood stove is nice because it's free(monetarily speaking) but there is SO much labor involved with it. Finding wood, cutting it, gathering it, splitting it, stacking it, bringing it in to the house. Not to mention, cleaning all the little wood chunks and bark that fall off everywhere. Anyways, he wanted to go out into the woods, cut a dead tree down, and load it all in his truck. Ummmm....do I have to?!? I just painted my nails. That's reason enough not to gather wood. I also do not have clothes suitable to gather wood. Boyfriend said not to worry, as he had suitable clothes and gloves. Well, boyfriend is 6'5. I'm 5'6. Needless to say, I was swimming. I also had millions of layers on since it was -55 degrees(insert sarcastic tone). It was a scene right out of 'The Christmas Story.' You know, when the little kid can't move in his snowsuit. Luckily, I didn't fall to the ground or I would not have been able to get back up. Anyways, boyfriend cut the tree with his chainsaw, while I sat in the truck. I was summoned to pick up the cut logs when he was done. Note to self, cute polka-dot rain boots from Target are not suitable for winter weather. I might as well have been walking barefoot. Thankfully, the gathering didn't take too long and my job was done within half an hour. Seemed like 3 hours though...

I will not be gathering wood on my birthday.

...she's back...

After about a year, I've decided to start blogging again(L I know you are jumping for joy right now). My life has become a little more interesting than boring old college. A lot has changed in a year. One sentence summary? I graduated from college(finally), met boyfriend over the summer, recently got a puppy and a new job. That's my life in a nutshell right now. New puppy will be the source of many great stories..the boyfriend and new job might add some fun to the mix too!! So, that's it for now..I'll post pics of my little boy(the puppy) later :)
